One of the most asked questions from people who haven’t accepted Jesus yet is this, If God is all-powerful and all-good, why does He allow suffering and evil to exist?
1. Free Will and Human Responsibility
God created humans with free will—an essential component of love and relationship. Without the freedom to choose, love wouldn't be genuine. Unfortunately, free will also means people can choose evil. Much of the suffering in the world—wars, violence, injustice—is the result of human choices, not God's will.
“Choose this day whom you will serve...” (Joshua 24:15)
2. A Fallen World
The Lord teaches the world is under the curse of sin since the fall of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). This fall affected all of creation, not just humanity, leading to natural disasters, disease, and death.
“For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”(Romans 8:22)
3. God Uses Suffering for Good
Though God does not cause evil, He can use suffering for a greater purpose. Trials can develop character, deepen faith, and even bring people closer to God. Consider the story of Joseph, sold by his brothers, who later said:
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good...” (Genesis 50:20)
4. Eternal Perspective
From a human standpoint, suffering seems unbearable and unjust. But Scripture offers an eternal perspective: this life is temporary, and ultimate justice and restoration are promised in eternity. The sufferings of this world are not the end.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18)
5. God Suffers With Us
Christianity uniquely teaches that God is not distant from human suffering. Through Jesus Christ, God entered into our pain. On the cross, He experienced the depths of human suffering and evil, offering redemption and hope.
“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief...” (Isaiah 53:3)
In summary, while the problem of evil is deeply emotional and intellectually difficult, Scripture offers answers grounded in free will, the consequences of a fallen world, the redemptive power of suffering, the hope of eternal life, and a God who suffers with us. Faith doesn’t always remove suffering, but it gives it meaning, purpose, and hope.
I want to give you a scenario why America could see it’s destruction. First, let me give you some facts and then read the scenario.
The idea that $36 trillion in national debt could lead to America's collapse is a concern rooted in the potential economic consequences of such high levels of borrowing. While it’s not guaranteed that this level of debt will directly cause the nation to "fall," there are several reasons why an unsustainable level of debt can pose significant risks to a nation's economy and stability. Here are some key points that explain the potential dangers of such a large national debt that we now have in the US.
1. Interest Payments Become a Burden

Rising Interest Costs: As the national debt grows, so too do the interest payments on that debt. The U.S. government borrows money by issuing bonds, and these bonds come with interest. The more debt the government has, the higher its interest payments, which can crowd out other essential spending like infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

For example, if interest rates rise (as they have in recent years), the cost of servicing the debt could increase dramatically. If the government is spending a significant portion of its budget just on interest payments, it may struggle to fund other important initiatives.
2. Reduced Fiscal Flexibility

Less Room for Economic Stimulus: A nation with high debt may have less flexibility to respond to economic crises (like recessions or natural disasters) because borrowing more to fund stimulus packages could be more difficult or more expensive. This is particularly concerning if an economic downturn leads to a drop in tax revenue or a need for increased government spending.

Countries with lower levels of debt can more easily take on additional borrowing during tough times, but high levels of debt can limit that ability, leading to a potential economic stagnation.
3. Inflation and Currency Devaluation

Inflationary Pressures: Governments with high debt might be tempted to print more money to meet their obligations. This could lead to inflation, eroding the value of the U.S. dollar. If inflation rises significantly, it could undermine people's purchasing power and create economic instability.

Currency Devaluation: A loss of confidence in the dollar, or a perception that the U.S. is unable to manage its debt, could lead to a devaluation of the currency. This would make imports more expensive and could reduce the value of American savings and investments.
4. Potential Loss of Confidence from Investors

Bond Market Confidence: The U.S. government finances its debt by issuing Treasury bonds. If investors start to worry about the government's ability to repay its debt, they may demand higher interest rates to compensate for the perceived risk. If the U.S. can’t pay higher interest rates or if the bond market collapses, it could result in a fiscal crisis.

A loss of confidence in U.S. debt could make it more difficult for the government to borrow at affordable rates, potentially leading to a sovereign debt crisis.
5. Crowding Out Private Investment

Reduced Investment in the Private Sector: High government borrowing can also crowd out private investment. If the government is borrowing a large amount of money, it could drive up interest rates in the overall economy, making it more expensive for businesses and individuals to borrow. This could stifle innovation and economic growth.

Private businesses rely on credit to invest in new projects and hire workers, so if the government is taking up a disproportionate share of available credit, it could harm the broader economy.
6. Economic Growth Slowdown

Lower Growth Potential: High national debt levels can stifle long-term economic growth. If a large portion of the budget is devoted to servicing the debt, less money is available for investments in infrastructure, education, research, and other growth-promoting initiatives. Over time, this could reduce the nation’s potential for prosperity.

Economic growth is vital for the country to keep up with debt obligations. Without strong growth, the U.S. might find it more difficult to reduce its debt-to-GDP ratio, further exacerbating its financial problems.
7. Global Economic Impact

Global Financial System: The U.S. dollar serves as the world's reserve currency, meaning it is widely used for international trade and as a store of value. If the U.S. were to face a debt crisis, it could have significant global repercussions, potentially leading to a loss of confidence in the dollar and a shift to other currencies (like the euro or Chinese yuan). This could disrupt global markets, trade, and investment flows.

A U.S. debt crisis could also negatively impact countries and companies that hold large amounts of U.S. debt. If the value of U.S. bonds plummeted, it could cause turmoil in financial markets worldwide.
8. Generational Burden

Passing Debt to Future Generations: High debt levels mean future generations will be responsible for repaying it. This can lead to a situation where future Americans face higher taxes, reduced government services, or both, just to manage the debt. Many critics argue that this is unfair to younger generations who did not accumulate the debt but will still bear the consequences.

Intergenerational fairness is a key concern when discussing high national debt—how much of the current debt burden should be passed on to future citizens?
9. Political Instability

Budget Deficits and Political Gridlock: As debt increases, there may be political tension over how to manage it. Debates over spending cuts, tax increases, and entitlement reforms can lead to gridlock and ineffective governance. If politicians fail to reach consensus on how to manage the debt, it can undermine trust in government and cause political instability.

High debt levels can also lead to contentious debates over fiscal policy, potentially contributing to social unrest if cuts in popular programs are deemed necessary to balance the budget.
Scenario: The Fall of America's Economic Dominance
The Background:
For decades, America has stood as the world’s economic powerhouse, holding the global reserve currency, commanding military influence, and leading in technological and cultural innovations. But in the 2020s, a series of critical missteps, political divisions, and economic challenges lead to an unprecedented downfall that transforms the U.S. from the world’s leading superpower to a nation struggling to maintain its place on the global stage.
The First Signs: Debt and Political Dysfunction
It begins with the accumulation of an unsustainable national debt, which balloons to $36 trillion by the mid-2020s. Despite periodic warnings from economists, the U.S. government continues to run massive budget deficits, relying on borrowing to finance both military operations and social programs. Interest rates remain low, masking the long-term consequences of borrowing at such a scale. Politicians, deeply divided between fiscal conservatives and progressive factions, fail to come to a consensus on how to reduce the debt.
As the debt continues to grow, the interest burden on the U.S. government’s annual budget skyrockets. By 2027, the U.S. government spends more on interest than it does on education, healthcare, and infrastructure combined. The impact of this massive debt begins to weigh heavily on the economy. The Federal Reserve starts to raise interest rates to combat inflation, but this only exacerbates the situation, driving up the cost of borrowing for both the government and consumers.
The Economic Collapse: The Bond Market Crisis
In 2030, the tipping point arrives. A combination of rising interest rates, a slowing economy, and a growing sense of doubt among global investors causes a massive sell-off in U.S. Treasury bonds. Foreign governments, once eager to purchase U.S. debt, begin to diversify their reserves into other assets, such as gold, the euro, and even the Chinese yuan. For years, the U.S. has relied on foreign countries to fund its deficits, but now, as demand for U.S. debt weakens, the cost of borrowing soars.
The U.S. bond market, once the safest and most reliable in the world, falters. The dollar, as the world’s reserve currency, starts to lose its status, and foreign nations begin moving away from using the U.S. dollar in international trade. Countries like China and Russia, with their growing economic clout, form new alliances that bypass the dollar, leading to a decline in demand for U.S. debt and the U.S. dollar itself. This signals the beginning of a global shift away from the dollar, and the U.S. is no longer able to finance its deficit at affordable rates.
The Dollar Crisis: Hyperinflation and Economic Destruction
As foreign governments and investors pull their funds out of U.S. Treasuries, the value of the U.S. dollar collapses. The Federal Reserve is forced to print vast amounts of money to cover the growing debt and fund government operations. The result is runaway inflation. Prices on everyday goods, from food to gasoline to medical services, skyrocket. The cost of living becomes unbearable for millions of Americans. Wage stagnation, coupled with rapid inflation, creates widespread poverty, especially among the middle class.
At the same time, unemployment rises as businesses, struggling with the high costs of borrowing and hyperinflation, begin to lay off workers. Small businesses collapse under the weight of rising costs and the collapse of consumer purchasing power. The economic devastation becomes clear—America is no longer the economic leader it once was. The dollar is no longer the global standard, and American products are less competitive on the world stage.
Political Instability and Civil Unrest
The economic collapse leads to deepening political divisions. The already fractured political landscape becomes even more polarized. Different regions of the country begin to question the viability of the federal union, with some states proposing secession due to dissatisfaction with federal economic policies and the government’s inability to stabilize the economy.
As food prices surge and resources become scarce, protests and riots break out in major cities. The government’s ability to maintain order weakens. Police and military forces, stretched thin and underfunded, struggle to contain the growing unrest. The rule of law begins to break down in some areas, and violence becomes widespread.
In Washington, D.C., the political gridlock continues. The two major parties, locked in a bitter struggle for control, cannot agree on any meaningful solutions. Attempts at compromise collapse, and the legislative process grinds to a halt. The U.S. government, now deeply indebted, begins defaulting on its obligations, including foreign debts, leading to a loss of global credibility.
Global Consequences: A New World Order
As the U.S. economy unravels, its allies begin to distance themselves, fearing the collapse of their most significant trading partner. Global trade networks, long centered on the U.S. dollar, fracture. Countries, no longer reliant on U.S. financial institutions, pivot toward new economic blocs. The European Union strengthens its hold on global markets, and China, with its growing economic and military influence, takes advantage of the void left by the U.S. to assert itself as a new economic and political leader.
In the absence of U.S. leadership, international institutions like the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund see a shift in power. New global coalitions form, centered around China, Russia, and the European Union. The world enters an era of geopolitical fragmentation, with the United States now marginalized in global decision-making.
The Final Collapse: A Nation Divided
By 2040, the United States has become a shadow of its former self. A massive economic crisis, fueled by excessive debt, inflation, and loss of global influence, has fractured the country. Political polarization reaches new extremes, and the federal government is no longer capable of providing essential services. Once a beacon of prosperity, the U.S. is now a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked debt, fiscal irresponsibility, and political division.
While America still retains some military power, its economic influence has waned, and it is no longer the dominant force it once was. The country faces years of rebuilding and restructuring, both economically and politically, as new leadership attempts to restore stability and rebuild trust with its citizens and the world.
The fall of America as the world’s leading superpower serves as a grim reminder of the fragility of empires and the importance of fiscal responsibility, unity, and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
This scenario illustrates how a series of interconnected economic, political, and global factors—such as unsustainable debt, rising inflation, loss of international confidence, and political dysfunction—could potentially lead to the unraveling of a once-dominant nation. America’s fall could also lead the entire world into chaos which could propel the Antichrist to rise to power.
As of April 6, 2025, the U.S. national debt has surpassed $36 trillion. This significant milestone highlights the growing fiscal challenges facing the nation. Recent reports indicate that interest payments on this debt have reached approximately $1 trillion, surpassing expenditures on defense and Medicare. Projections suggest that without substantial policy changes, the national debt could exceed $48 trillion by 2029, with annual interest payments continuing to rise.
